Is the Nomadix Smart Pro Roof Box compatible with all vehicle models?
The Nomadix Smart Pro Roof Box can be installed on most sedans, SUVs, wagons, hatchbacks, and MPVs over 4.2m/13.8ft in length, as long as suitable roof crossbars can be fitted to the vehicle. For compatibility confirmation, please provide our customer service team with your vehicle's brand, model, year, and original factory roof rail type (raised roof rails/flush roof rails), or the cross-section dimensions of your existing roof crossbars.
What are its key advantages compared with roof boxes from other brands?
The Nomadix Smart Pro Roof Box features a flush, overhang-free design on both the upper and lower lids, enabling smoother airflow and effectively reducing turbulence, drag and wind noise. An internal, front-located secondary locking mechanism prevents the upper lid from lifting at high speeds. The unique full-width 520 LED rear tail light is powered by the included rechargeable Trispark power bank, which is charged via the built-in solar panels (available on E models only). The innovative fingerprint unlocking system makes access quick and effortless (no more fumbling with keys!).
Can I install the Nomadix Smart Pro Roof Box by myself ?
Yes. We provide detailed installation instructions and an installation video. Most users can complete the installation by themselves.
Should I periodically check whether the Roof Box has become loose?
Yes. We recommend performing regular checks as outlined in the user manual to ensure it remains securely installed and safe to drive with.
How long can a fully charged Trispark power bank last when powering the tail light?
The rear tail light lasts approximately 10 hours in high-brightness mode, 14 hours in medium-brightness mode, and 25 hours in low-brightness mode. Solar charging power varies with weather conditions and sunlight intensity, whether driving or parked. If the vehicle is parked outdoors, the battery can usually maintain a full charge under normal conditions. You can adjust the rear tail light brightness to suit your needs. When sunlight is limited, we recommend using the low-brightness mode. With a fully charged battery, this mode can support nearly one month of daily commuting based on 1 hour of driving per day. Since the battery also charges while driving, it is unlikely to be fully depleted.
Why does the webpage for the Trispark power bank say it has a capacity of 24,000 mAh while the product indicates only 12,000 mAh?
The 24,000 mAh and 12,000 mAh ratings are calculated under different voltages: 24,000 mAh at 3.2 V and 12,000 mAh at 6.4 V. However, both represent the same total energy of 76.8 Wh, so the total runtime is the same. These values are simply two different ways of expressing the same battery capacity. The actual power capacity is 76.8 Wh, providing ample power for daily use.
Could the Trispark power bank inside the Nomadix Pro Roof Box catch fire in high temperatures?
The Trispark power bank's Power Module uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery cells, which offer superior high-temperature stability. It has passed multiple international safety certifications, including China CCC, U.S. UL, Japan PSE, and EU CE, and is equipped with multiple protective mechanisms, such as overcharge, over-temperature, and short-circuit protection. It can be used with confidence under normal high-temperature conditions.
How should I clean the exterior of the Roof Box?
You can clean it together with your vehicle during a regular wash. No special treatment is required.
Will the exterior surface degrade or age after long-term outdoor use?
Our Roof Box is made with industry-leading multi-layer anti-aging ABS + PMMA material. With normal use and proper maintenance, it resists material brittleness, significant fading, and other signs of aging, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Is it normal for the front of the Roof Box to have a large gap?
The roof box is quite large in overall size. To ensure the upper and lower lids lock properly under various working conditions, a reasonable gap must be reserved between the two lids. A small front gap will not cause water leakage or affect normal use.
You may be able to reduce the gap by trying the following methods: 1. Check whether there are any items under the front connecting arm that may prevent it from folding or extending properly, as this will directly cause the front gap to increase. 2. Do not place overly thick items in the front section that exceed the internal height of the front area. 3. Secure items inside the Roof Box with straps to prevent them from sliding forward during driving and forcing the front gap open. 4. Empty the Roof Box, then open and close it again from the left and right sides to realign the upper and lower lids.
How should the Roof Box be stored when not in use for a long time?
When not using the Roof Box for an extended period, we recommend cleaning and drying it thoroughly, then storing it indoors either hung horizontally or laid flat. Please avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures, and placing heavy objects on top of it to prevent deformation, aging, or scratches.
Why should the Roof Box not be stored upright or on its side?
The bottom of the Roof Box has a reinforced structure that increases horizontal load-bearing capacity, ensuring it can carry heavy loads. However, when the Roof Box is stored vertically, its entire weight is concentrated on a small edge or end surface, creating excessive localized stress. Over time, this concentrated load may cause irreversible twisting or deformation of the plastic lids. This can compromise the fit between the upper and lower lids, potentially resulting in misaligned locks, poor sealing (which can cause water leakage), and increased wind noise at high speeds. Upright storage can also place lateral stress on the lid support arms and hinges, causing slight deformation and making the Roof Box less smooth to open and close. In addition, an upright Roof Box has a higher center of gravity and may tip over, potentially causing injury or damage.
Will installing the Roof Box affect the operation of the sunroof?
The roof crossbars and Roof Box may interfere with fully opening the sunroof. 1. For built-in (internal) sunroofs: Sliding operation is usually not affected, but the tilt-up angle for ventilation may be limited. 2. For external pop-up sunroofs: When opened, the sunroof protrudes above the roof and may come into contact with the crossbars, the Roof Box, or the Roof Box mounting clamps.
Recommendation: Compatibility varies by vehicle model. To avoid damage, please open the sunroof slowly for testing after installation. If the clearance is too small, keep the sunroof closed.
Will installing the Roof Box create wind noise?
The Nomadix Smart Pro Roof Box features a streamlined design with flush upper and lower lids and no overhanging edges, so airflow can pass more smoothly over the box. This effectively reduces air turbulence and minimizes wind resistance and wind noise. Inside, the full-coverage felt mat absorbs vibration and reduces noise caused by small items shifting around, delivering a quieter overall experience.
That said, all roof boxes produce some wind noise while driving, which is normal. The final noise level also depends on the vehicle's roof structure, crossbar type, and installation position. Under the same conditions, the Nomadix Smart Pro Roof Box delivers lower wind noise than traditional roof boxes with overhanging edges, thanks to its more aerodynamically optimized design.
Will installation affect the vehicle's center of gravity?
Installing a roof box will raise the vehicle's center of gravity to some extent. However, as long as it is installed correctly and loaded properly, the impact on driving stability remains well within a controllable range. We recommend distributing the load evenly inside the Roof Box and keeping heavier items toward the center to maintain optimal balance.
Can the vehicle fit into a multi-story (stacked) parking space after installation?
The slim version of the Nomadix Smart Pro Roof Box extends 30cm/11.8in above the crossbars, while the standard version extends 40cm/15.7in above the crossbars. ENROAD full-width crossbars extend 9cm/3.5in above the vehicle roofline. Crossbar heights vary by brand. To calculate the total vehicle height after installation, add the vehicle height, crossbar height, and Roof Box height. Then compare the result with the height limit for the specific parking facility to determine whether the vehicle will fit safely.
Will the Roof Box increase fuel consumption due to wind resistance?
Installing any brand of roof box will increase wind resistance to some extent, which may result in slightly higher fuel consumption. The actual increase is generally not significant and depends on factors such as the roof box's aerodynamics, driving speed, and road conditions. The Nomadix Pro Smart Roof Box's flush upper and lower lids and lack of overhanging edges help minimize drag compared to traditional roof boxes, keeping the impact on fuel consumption as low as possible.
If I load many heavy items into the Roof Box, will it lower the vehicle body, especially for vehicles with lower ground clearance?
The combined weight of the Roof Box plus its rated load (approximately 75–105 kg/165 to 231lb) is roughly equivalent to the weight of an adult passenger. In most cases, it will not noticeably lower the vehicle body.
Does installation position affect Roof Box noise?
In general, we recommend positioning the Roof Box as far back as possible, as long as it does not interfere with normal tailgate operation. However, wind noise can be affected by the vehicle roof's shape, the gap between the Roof Box and the roof, and the installation position. If wind noise is noticeable at high speeds, try moving the Roof Box slightly forward or backward to see if it improves.
